Pankaj Tripathi is an Indian actor who is popularly known for Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Stree (2018) and Newton (2017). Pankaj Tripathi came to Mumbai in 2004. He debuted with a minor role in Run and Omkara and has since worked in many films and television shows. Eight years later in 2012, he made his breakthrough, when he was widely praised for his role in Gangs of Wasseypur. His first film as a lead actor was the 2017 film Gurgaon. Tripathi made his debut in Tamil cinema with the film Kaala which released on 7 June 2018. In Bollywood, it was his role in Gangs of Wasseypur that he finally made his breakthrough. Pankaj Tripathi won a Special Mention at the 65th National Film Awards for his performance in Newton.
