Just before lockdown started again in France, we escaped the chateau for an afternoon visit to a small but fascinating museum in Chateauroux, the Musee Bertrand. I had never been before, and wasn’t expecting to find such varied treasures locally! The museum was the former home of Bertrand, one of Napoleon’s generals, and is filled with Empire style furniture and objets d’art, but it also houses hundreds of paintings and sculptures.
