4 On The Floor (Feat. Glenn Hughes) [Full Album] (1979)

This album is a strange one. In 1978 Al Kooper (who had played with the Rolling Stones, B. B. King, the Who, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Alice Cooper a.o.) began work on a new group which he hoped to call The Hollywood Horns. Members were to be: Richie Hayward (from Little Feat), Elliot Randall, Doobie Brothers’ Jeff ’Skunk’ Baxter for guitar, Neil Stubenhaus on bass, and Glenn Hughes (not the Village People member) on vocals. The project ground to a halt when Hayward was sidelined by a motorcycle accident, and session players had to be brought in for the initial recording work, which involved a number of ’warm-up’ cover versions, including a Rolling Stones medley given the full contemporary disco treatment. The project folded before new material written by Kooper, Baxter and Hayward could be laid down. Possibly to try and recoup losses, Casablanca Records released the covers as Four On The Floor, although at the time lead vocalist Glenn Hughes insisted his name be removed from the credits. Released September 17, 1979, the album sunk without a trace. 00:00 There Goes My Baby 04:59 Gypsy Woman 11:04 Any Day Now Glimmer Twins Medley: 16:15 Let’s Spend The Night Together 20:26 Lady Jane 25:54 Paint It Black 28:51 Under My Thumb
