DR Congo residents settle along Sake-Goma Road as fighting increases

The security situation around the strategic city of Goma, the capital of the North Kivu province in the restive east, remains volatile. That’s due to ongoing fighting between the Congolese armed forces and rebels from the March 23 Movement. Hundreds of already displaced people were forced to flee the town of Sake, the last frontier to Goma, as fighting there flared up in the past week.
