London tower fire: People were ’jumping out of windows’ At least 12 people died and more than 70 injured after a fire broke out inside Grenfell Tower just after midnight on Wednesday with the number of dead expected to jump, according to the city’s mayor. Witnesses say children were being thrown out of windows as flames took over the building. But many of the building’s residents say they had been warning of a fire risk for months.
