WARFRAME – We all lift together – Male Choir & Orchestra [COVER]
On *June 15,* I started up Warframe as usual and saw the announcement: _“TennoCon 2023: ’We All Lift Together’ Cover Submissions“._
I went to the forum through this link and got the details.
_“We are now collecting covers of ’We All Lift Together’ - new and old - for a special TennoCon 2023 project. 2023 marks 10 years of Warframe and 5 years since the release of ’We All Lift Together.’ Since its release, the song has become something of a rallying cry for the Tenno community!“_
And then I realized that this could be my chance to finally establish and promote myself as a composer-arranger. I have no views and no subscribers, but if I get featured in a video on PlayWarfame channel, it’s gonna be really good – let’s be honest here – it’s gonna be fиcking great! This video gonna get like a million views, no less!
And so I got to work. But not right away, of course. I still had the _“Calculus Guide (very meme&musical)“_ video unfinished. So I didn’t start making the cover until the 4th of July.
I worked every day for several hours.
First I picked up the parts by ear from the instrumental. Then I recorded the vocals (having composed some voices before). Then came up with my parts (piano, orchestra). Then realized the idea with a quote from G. Sviridov as *OUTRO* (I think I successfully realized it). Worked every day for many hours.
*Spoiler:* _it was not enough._ Also besides that there were plenty of other things to do.
In the evening of *July 13* I had to leave for 3 days to my brother in another city. That day I got up at 6am and spent the whole day writing the orchestral part and finishing the cover to the end. The only thing I didn’t have time to do was to put the vocals and the instrumental together. I thought, “Well, this is fucked! I didn’t have time to finish it!“, but then I realized that I could finish it at my brother’s flat (he has a computer there).
As a result, on *July 14,* I spent almost the whole day at his apartment mixing vocals with instrumental, cutting unnecessary places, cleaning vocals from drooling and breathing, using plug-ins and everything else. Actually, I did it a little bit crookedly, but, most importantly, *I finally made it.* And sent it off. I created a folder in Google disk with open access. I uploaded the exported wav files and the whole project in Reaper.
And then when I came home, on *July 20-24,* I finished some things in the sheet music (I added the piano part in the verse, changed the ending a little bit, applied plug-ins normally again).
In total, I spent about *60 hours* on this cover, that’s for sure. And maybe even more. I should install some plugin in Reaper and MuseScore to count the time of work on the project).
I don’t know if I’ll be included in the general PlayWarframe video yet, but I really hope so, because contests like this - you’ll never know about them unless they tell you. If I didn’t play Warframe, I might have missed this... _(however I got back into the game in May 2023 after a 3-year hiatus, but whatever =D)_
I think it’s a decent job done. But again, a fиcking million hours spent. I should stop doing big projects like this, they don’t pay for themselves. I’ve been doing it for a month. And, in fact, it’s not 60 hours, it’s much more.
If I remember, one day I got up at 6:00 a.m. and worked 15 hours all day until 21:00. And then on the last day, when I finished it, I sat for 10 hours. That’s 25 hours. And taking into account all the other days, there to 60-70 hours will come to exactly. I also made the video, too, almost four whole days. that is 20 more hours can be added.

Since I don’t know how to mix and master properly, the following *problems* come out:
– The mix lacks the power of the percussion instruments like timpani and tam-tam (especially in the chorus).
– In the LAST CUPLET before the chorus, the _Banjo\Harp_ *contrapunct* (played in 5ths) *should be heard* (also played by the synths), which is presented at the very beginning of the composition.
– *The orchestra should be louder* in the CHORUS. BUT IT IS DROWNED OUT BY THE VOICES (CHOIR).
As a result, so many interesting details are missing (sub-voices, so called).
But please go to my MuseScore page and check out the instrumental. 🥺
If you are a cool sound engineer, I can send the link to the project in REAPER to you, if you want, and you can mix it fine =D
