East Lansing Police Shoot Fleeing Man Armed With a Gun in Meijer Parking Lot

At approximately 6:36 p.m. on Monday, April 25, officers with the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) were dispatched to the Meijer store at 1350 W. Lake Lansing Road in East Lansing in response to a weapons complaint. The caller indicated a male subject pulled a gun out of a car, stuck it in his pocket and went into the store. ELPD officers arrived on scene and observed a subject in the store that matched the description given by the caller. A foot pursuit occurred, with VanAtten and officers exiting out of the store.
