Making a wish here is like to meet the supernatural energy, to discover the truth, to find the eternal happiness. But suddenly a man realizes that no one wish is his own and no one wish is actual. Tarkovsky said that hardness and strength are companions of death but weakness and flexibility express the novelty of being.
