Bach: Toccata & Fugue in D minor - Stokowski in Stockholm

Commencing in 1951, Stokowski became a truly international conductor by visiting as many countries as possible during the spring and summer months, while remaining in the USA for the autumn and winter concert seasons. In 1967, his summer European tour took him to Paris, London, Monte Carlo, Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm. He took with him his own symphonic transcription of Bach’s organ Toccata and Fugue in D minor and for a special 30-minute TV show played it with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He appears to have been in one of his severe moods in this performance, though for the other item in this programme, Stravinsky’s ’Petrushka’ Suite (also uploaded here) he seems to have lightened up somewhat! ...
