Lost History of the Susquehannock Explored; Enola/Turkey Hill Trails, Conestoga Fort, Safe Harbor

Howdy. Today we will explore what many (including myself) believe is an important sight to the Susquehannock Indigenous People, located at the conflux of the Susquehanna and Conestoga rivers. For centuries an indigenous group known as the Susquehannock domineered over much of New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland along the river that now shares their name; the Susquehanna. Conestoga also became a synonymous term for the Susquehannock, and many 17th and 18th centuries inventions arose out of the Susquehannock Town on the outskirts of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I visited the exact meeting point of the Susquehanna and Conestoga rivers, which since indigenous times has had much industrial age construction built upon it, including the massive Safe Harbor Dam of 1931. We will explore Old World style ruins, massive cliffs, the Turkey Hill Trail, and the overall history of this corner of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
