Churchill - Churchill (1970) USA Blues Rock ,Indie Rock ,Christian Rock Just to clarify this is certainly not Christian Rock as it has been designated. Six of the songs were penned by Spooner Oldham with two being in conjunction with Dan Penn. Oldham and Penn are noteworthy songwriters who are responsible for a huge catalog of recognizable hits including the likes of “Dark End of the Street“, “Do Right Woman“ and “I’m Your Puppet“. The mystery here is are they members of this band? I’m quite sure they play on it and the picture of the three guys on the back sure look like Spooner on the left and Dan on the right. The credits include Ed Cobb and Emory Lee Gordy Jr. who also appear on Spooner Oldham’s solo debut. But when I look through discographies of these guys this album is never mentioned. As far as the music goes it is pretty average.
