John Barrymore recites the famous Hamlet Soliloqoy - To Be Or Not To Be.
Barrymore had got to the stage in his movies of the late 30’s and early 40’s where he either forgot his lines or couldn’t be bothered to learn the script and had to read from cue cards. However, in this scene from the RKO 1941 film, PLAYMATES, both cast and crew applauded as this was one time he didn’t need cue cards. The tears were geniune.
