“When You Wish upon a Star“ was written by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington for Walt Disney’s 1940 animated feature: “Pinocchio”. It was sung by Cliff Edwards (as Jiminy Cricket) and is heard over the opening credits and again in the final scene. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year and has since become an icon of The Walt Disney Company.
