Gautier Capuçon plays Dutilleux: Trois strophes sur le nom de Sacher: No. 1, Un poco indeciso

The pensive, melancholic Trois Strophes sur le nom de Sacher by 20th-century composer Henri Dutilleux explore the many expressive facets of the cello. Discover Gautier Capuçon’s rendition on his album Souvenirs: This work was one of twelve commissioned in 1976 by Mstislav Rostropovich, as part of a birthday gift to the conductor and patron Paul Sacher. Gautier has recorded this alongside Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, Kodaly’s Cello Sonata Op. 8, and Javier Martinez Campos’s Ambre Cello for the first part of his Souvenirs project, which brings together these new recordings with two other parts, filled with the most special and exemplary moments of his career as a musician and recording artist.
