The Upward Facing Dog is a basic backbend yoga pose.
This active, stimulating asana combines global spinal extension with strengthening of the arms and the core muscles.
It also opens the chest and lungs and promotes deeper breathing.
This pose engages many muscles in the body:
➡️ The stabilizing muscles are mostly along the back, shoulders, and arms.
➡️ The lengthening muscles are all at the body’s front line - abdominal muscles and hip flexors.
Good preparation and softening of the thoracic vertebrae are essential for quality, progressive exercise.
And it is also used in the McKenzie methods to treat lower back pain 🧑⚕️
