DEF CON 28 - BHV - Making Next Generation Drugs at Home

Bio: Mixæl Swan Laufer worked in mathematics and high energy physics until he decided to use his background in science to tackle problems of global health and human rights. Perpetually disruptive, he continues to work to make it possible for people to manufacture their own medications at home. Abstract: The structures of drugs and their delivery mechanisms have become orders of magnitude more sophisticated in recent years. Polymer subdermal trickle-delivery implants can now be manufactured with a 3D printer filament extruder. We can now find simple new synthesis pathways for complex molecules using machine learning systems, and these compounds can be made at home. The Four Thieves Vinegar Collective will show the free, open access, supercomputing platform they have built so that anyone can do research in this arena independently on our hardware. Additionally, they will show the latest version of the automated chemical reactor, the Apothecary Microlab, which requires no soldering, and is buil
