“North Pole Will Be Ice-Free By 2013!” – Al Gore in 2009

A 2009 comment by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore that the North Pole would be ice-free by summer 2013 has gone viral in tandem with COP26 climate talks in Glasgow. According to a “fact-check“ by Reuters, Gore was merely quoting a scientist rather than making the claim himself, although he misstated the scientist’s data. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger agree that Reuters’ effort to defend Gore didn’t do the former Veep any favors.
