Republicans Caught Staging Entire Ilhan Omar Saga

Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made a big show of kicking Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar off the House Foreign Affairs Committee, ostensibly for allegedly antisemitic comments made a few years ago. But as former GOP Rep. Justin Amash pointed out, Omar could only be barred from the committee after the House had already agreed to appoint her. The conclusion: it’s all a sham example of political theater allowing both sides to pontificate and play to the base.
