This kind of repair is used when the spine if off/loose and the hinges attaching the boards to the textblock are weakened or detached. This repair makes use of a library binding type of bookcloth, spine stiffener is 10 point folder stock that is adheared to the boards, spine lining is a starch-filled “hinge cloth,“ cotton muslin or similar. Adhesive is PVA. Not appropriate for special collections / rare items.
