Polymer Clay Multiple Leaves Caning Tutorial
Today’s polymer clay caning tutorial showcase leaf clusters canes! This is a great cane for beginners. Some of the polymer clay techniques i’ll be employing in this video are: bullseye gradient, cane reduction, cane packing and working with translucent clay. You’ll see how you can take a simple shape like a leaf to turn it into a more complex design by assembling them into a larger component — the trick is to wrap extensions (like the stem of the leaf) with translucent before combining.
Tutorial on skinner blending:
In this video, I used a variation of the skinner blend called, the “Simmons“ skinner blend. Instead of the Simmon’s, you can use the regular Skinner Blend, which I go over step by step in this video:
Tutorial on Bulls Eye Canes:
List of Clay Ratios:
Simmon’s Skinner Blend (actual amount of clay used in the cane)
• 4g dark green
• 4g medium green
• 5g light green
* NOTE: if doing the Simmon’s Skinner Blend, multiply the amount times 3 so the shape you cut out will by about one-third of what you started with.
Packing Clay
• Roughly 36 grams of Sculpey Premo Translucent
