Just after Cliff Richard’s iconic music video for “Wired for Sound“ plays live on Top Of The Pops, Soft Cell follow up with an equally iconic performance of “Tainted Love“, done whilst surrounded by party balloons. “Now you know what the eyes look like behind the glasses,“ jokes presenter Richard Skinner, referring to Almond’s appearance on the album cover of Non Stop Erotic Cabaret - an album which hadn’t yet hit the shelves. Just one week later, the track would hit number one and the duo were brought onto the show once again to perform the track.
