Rare live performance of Cannonball Blues from Sara and Maybelle Carter at the Newport Folk Festival On 1st July 1967. Sara had agreed to come out of retirement with encouragement from Johnny Cash and the smile on Maybelle’s face says it all :) sadly we did not see much of Sara after her retirement back in the early 1940s so we have very little footage of her compared to Maybelle who carried on in the music business after the original Carter family ended. The Carter Family 1st released this song in 1930.
