80 years since the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade. In 1943, the fortress took a direct part in Operation Iskra, after which the Soviet army began to push the Germans out into our territories. In 1943, a steam locomotive at the Petrokrepost station delivered the first train to the mainland. Since 1945, the fortress’s German name was changed to Petrokrepost, and in 1992 the historical name Oreshek was returned. During Operation Iskra, 7 Wehrmacht infantry divisions were defeated, the enemy lost more than 13 thousand killed, about 17 thousand wounded, captured and missing. Soviet troops lost about 34 thousand killed, about 88 thousand wounded and missing.
