The abandoned estate of Baryatinsky /
The manor was built at the end of the 18th century by an unknown architect in the style of classicism and Romanticism. Almost nothing is known about the customer Nikolai Fedorovich Baryatinsky. He and his son did not succeed in the service. The family was not rich. It’s amazing how they were able to build a two-story house with a mezzanine and plant an excellent lime garden.
In the 1820s, the estate was bought by a professor of Moscow University, a botanist Ivan Alekseevich Dvigubsky. The scientist did not often visit the estate. In 1833, after leaving the rector’s work due to illness, he was able to settle in Zendikovo. In his estate, Dvigubsky worked enthusiastically until his death on compiling various manuals on agriculture, spending a lot of effort and money on the improvement of the estate.
After the death of the professor, the estate passed to the landowner Gorokhov, and then to his sister, who owned the estate until the revolution of 1917. After the revolution, the estate became a dormitory for poultry farm workers and remained there until the 1970s. The estate did not survive the 20th century.
