I attended this performance at the Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn, where interesting and informative events are always taking place. This performance was part of the 2021 Harvest Festival. Using African creation myths as a basis, this choreographed story is called \“The Arrival\“, and centers around the significance of water to life on this planet, and to mankind’s survival…with a bit of humor thrown in to keep things fun. It was written by Michael Manswell, and performed with the Something Positive collective of artists. The Weeksville Heritage Center is a historic site and cultural center located where one of the largest free Black communities in pre-Civil War America was established.
