Edo Era Samurai House Tour | Traditional Japanese House 湯川家 古民家 Old Japanese Home and Garden

This is a tour of an Edo period residence of a samurai family in Hagi city; an old castle town located in Yamaguchi prefecture. The last Yukawa to live in the house donated it to the city as a cultural asset. The family currently resides in Kyushu. The house is open all year and admission is one hundred yen. Located in a quiet neighborhood at the mouth of the Aiba river, the house uses the river in its design by diverting the river to run through the garden and house before rejoining the river where it exists into the bay.
