EU leaders endorse candidates for top roles in commission, parliament | DW News

EU leaders meeting in Brussels have nominated Ursula von der Leyen for a second term as president of the European Commission. Former Portuguese prime minister Antonio Costa will be the future head of the European Council, while Estonian prime minister Kaja Kallas is likely to become the next EU’s foreign policy chief. Roberta Metsola, a conservative from Malta, is expected to be elected for a second term as President of the EU Parliament, where some of the nominations for top posts have yet to be confirmed in a secret ballot.
