GS500 Starting Problem and Generator Rotor Repair

Sometimes the generator rotor comes loose. The starter gear is attached to it. When that happens, your bike makes a whirring sound and won’t turn over. Here’s how to fix it with simple tools and a little time. CORRECTION: The bolt to remove it is M14 x 1.5. I read the stamping in my box of rotor removal parts incorrectly. It is listed correctly in the Haynes manual, chapter 8. I was correct on the 36mm spacer.
