Terrifying moment elderly fisherman drifts away on ice chunk before breaking into raging river

DISTRESSING footage shows the moment an elderly pensioner was thrown off a chunk of floating ice into freezing waters. Pensioner Nikolay Tereshkov, 77, had been drifting on a chunk of ice when it crashed into a bridge support in the Yenisei River, Siberia. The ice floe shattered upon impact and the grandfather was thrown into the water. Earlier footage had shown how the fisherman had floated downstream after the river ice where he was fishing became detached from the bank. A major search was launched for him in Krasnoyarsk city after his wife raised the alarm when she realised his phone wasn’t working.
