Brazil Kids’ Ballet Dreams | Short Doc

Brazil’s Bolshoi ballet school makes poor kids’ dreams come true. Founded in 2000 in the city of Joinville in Santa Katarina state in partnership with Moscow’s Bolshoi theatre, it’s the only Bolshoi academy outside of Russia. The school offers the highest level of Russian classical ballet training to Brazilian kids from the toughest backgrounds. For in the country’s favelas, there are some boys whose passion isn’t football but the most sophisticated form of dance. If they make it through the final try-outs, then Brazil’s Bolshoi ballet school will provide them with full scholarships and more, so they can immerse themselves in their art, and turn from no-hopers into professional dancers who lift their families out of poverty.
