What the establishment gets wrong on immigration - Deep Dive into The Economist’s analysis

I’ve made it public because it’s suddenly more relevant than ever. The Economist is a good proxy for establishment thinking. It’s increasingly leftist and idealistic, and it’s very influential. The Economist’s main article for the year is on migration, so I’ve gone through it and broken apart its arguments and assumptions. Left-wing idealists see immigration as an inherent moral good (diversity=strength, yay!), while politicians see Britain as a banal economic platform and people as GDP-generating nodes, so want a steady supply of cheap labour to inflate the economy. Both are missing a realistic view of immigration and how some country’s shared values and culture give rise to a prosperous, free and pleasant society while others don’t.
