China police install barriers in Shanghai in effort to curb Covid protests - BBC News

Barriers have been installed at a protest site in the Chinese city of Shanghai as protests against strict Covid rules continued into a second night. A number of protesters in the city have been detained by police with officers reportedly telling anyone taking photos of the protests to delete them. Since Friday, people have been staging protests across China - where street demonstrations are extremely rare - over the country’s zero-Covid policy, which involves mass testing, quarantines and snap lockdowns.
