C’est La Vie // OC Animation

Featuring my oc Lane. I would love to hear how you interpret his story from this video and see how close you get! This was more of a passion project and content I really would like to do more of. Since this has copyrighted music (which I felt described him almost perfectly) I don’t expect this to get picked up by the algorithm nor get any views. But I hope for those who are interested more in Lane stick around! I really want to do more for him! As you should already know by now, I have wanted to move on from drawing “pretty girls” for a long time now. I want to draw more of my other characters. But it’s a hard cycle to break from, especially since 1. They’re fun to draw. 2. It brings food to the table. So, I know people will judge whatever I make. That’s just life. But I value those who have supported me and will support me no matter where I go with my art. This is not a sudden change, but I will gradually move away from what I have been doing for the past years. I don’t really like looking back at my old work, and I wouldn’t want to be remembered as the youtuber who draws only “pretty girls”. (But don’t worry, Sploot will stay. Just going more to the cute direction haha). I want to go back to my roots. I feel like I got sidetracked and trapped. I value feedback and commentary on my work since that’s the main reason I do art. I love to hear what people like about my characters and their story. And well, the “pretty girl” content doesn’t really spawn insightful commentary. Almost nothing of value that drives me forward. And that’s the main reason I want to move on. I appreciate the attention, but it’s not the kind of attention I really want. It’s a nice dopamine rush at the time, but it has no substance for long term. And I have had this existencial art crisis for a while, and still figuring out what exactly do I want to do. And oh man, I want to do a lot of things. But I am only one girl behind all these characters. Only a limited time to do everything I want. And it’s not easy when you’re struggling with self identity in art.
