Battle season has finally reached New York City! Today is the moment of truth for many Battle DJs out there. All the hours, days, weeks, months of practice will come down to 6 minutes of reckoning on the stage of Webster Hall just a few hours from now. Man, as I sit hear, readying myself to head on over to watch this year’s DMC NYC regional, I can’t help but think back to some of my favorite battle DJs of all time. I have quite a few and among them would definitely have to be Mix Master Mike. His aggressive yet clever approach to creating a battle routine made it hard for any competitor who drew his number in a competition. Mix Master Mike was the epitome of a Battle DJ.
