St. Petersburg police form anti-drone force

St. Petersburg has established an anti-drone squad. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a specialized police unit has been established in Saint Petersburg with the aim of safeguarding airspace against unauthorized usage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Officers from the new force have been seen equipped with sniper rifles and anti-drone rifles patrolling the city’s rooftops. The unit consists of mobile patrols assigned to apprehend UAV operators, groups of shooters armed with sniper rifles and carbines, and special technical teams employing electronic anti-drone weapons. The recruitment process for the new unit is primarily focused on police officers who previously served in Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
