Dance Your Ph.D. 2022 - Understanding the aging bone biology: focus on osteocytes

Naïma, 85 years-old, went to her doctor’s appointment at the University Hospital of Bordeaux. While she is slowly walking back to the tramway station, she worries about what the doctor said to her: “your bones are becoming more and more fragile”. Suddenly, a bicycle appears out of nowhere and makes her lose her balance. Thankfully, Mathilde is on her way home back from her day at the BioTis laboratory and she catches Naïma before she falls. Naïma is surprised but relieved: she could have broken her leg… What a coincidence! Mathilde studies the biology of aging bone during her PhD and offers to explain it to Naïma. Let’s find out about aging bone through Naïma’s imagination.
