Jeff Lynne | Blown Away (Unofficial Remaster)

Although the song was composed by Jeff Lynne, the lyrics to this track were co-written between him and Tom Petty. Backing vocals were supplied by one of Jeff’s biggest musical inspirations, Del Shannon, alongside “The Warwickshire Wobblers“ choir. Blown Away features some of Jeff’s finest love-themed lyrics on the album, and a remarkable show of his vocal range singing them. A combined synth-piano arrangement completes this song to be one of the definite highlights on this album. “You know, like, I’ve written so many songs with Tom like, just on Full Moon Fever and with the Wilburys that I’m still really impressed with how he comes up with all the words. ’Blown away,’ was one of ’em. Yeah, ’cause I’d got all the words up there and I go, ’Now, AH!’ - nothing. I just couldn’t think of it. And he comes up with ’blown away like a boat out on the ocean.’“ View our liner notes for Armchair Theatre: #35eeBPDYNVvJZROjeevMNQ
