Trenches - Game development in Blender & Unity

50 axis soldiers vs 50 allied soldiers - a mini battle royale made in Blender and Unity over a few days. I needed to learn the Unity Animation Rigging package and refresh my modeling and animation skills in Blender and Unity - so I created this. A big thanks to my Patreons, without you, I could not do this and the Gamedev tier and up can download this Unity project. You can download the tutorial files as a Gamdev Tier Patreon at: Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 00:50 Blender - Low poly character modeling 01:24 Blender - UV unwrapping and seams 01:45 Blender - Handpainting textures 02:38 Blender - Armature and rigging 04:40 Blender - Armature deform and weight painting 05:32 Blender - Allied soldier version 06:30 Blender - Modeling weapons 06:50 Blender - Keyframe reloading weapon animation 08:30 Blender - Keyframe idle and run animation 08:27 Blender & Unity - Animating 8 strafing animations 10:20 Unity - Importing 3D assets with bake axis conversion 11:06 Unity - Character material 11:19 Unity - Animator controller, idle, and run animation 11:40 Unity - AI Navigation 12:29 Unity - Animation Rigging package - what does it do? 14:10 Unity - Trenches character weapon and aiming animation rig 15:24 Unity - Rig layer to carry the weapon 15:49 Unity - Rig layers to position hands on the weapon 16:08 Unity - Rig layer to aim the weapon and turn the body 17:20 Unity - Body recoil using override transform constraint 18:20 Unity - Animating body and weapon reloading in Unity 18:45 Blender - Explosion image sequence rendering 19:55 Unity - Importing explosion texture atlas 20:15 Unity - Material for explosion with fade and flip-book frame blending 20:40 Unity - Explosion particle system 21:25 Unity - Ragdoll 22:00 Unity - Die method and ragdoll limb positions and rotations 22:45 Unity - Explosion forces 23:15 Blender - Sculpting a dirt diorama 23:25 Unity - AI Navmesh for terrain 23:45 Outro Twitter: Imphenzia Discord server invite: Imphenzia Merch: My Twitch Channel: Official web site: My page with all my Ludum Dare games: Additional info: I’ve been modeling in Blender since about 2015 but more recently in the past couple of years. I’ve been making games and assets in Unity since 2011 and I’m currently working on a multiplayer RTS game called Line war. I use a Sony FX3 camera with a Sony FE 2.8/24-70mm GM lens. My main microphone is now the Shure SM7B and I use a Rode NTG3 shotgun mic if I need it to be out of view. I downgraded to a Focusrite Solo from my wonderful RME Fireface UFX II that I had to sell when I moved from Sweden. Thanks a lot for watching and sharing my videos :)
