Season 3 | Ep 7 | AI & the Divide: Issues on the Accessibility of Artificial Intelligence in ASEAN

Much has been written about how artificial intelligence (AI) has been contributing to the development of many industries especially with the advent of the ever-changing new media technology. However, in some countries in the ASEAN Region access to digital technology remains a problem in many societies especially those in the periphery. With this regard, AI opportunities favor only those who belong to the “information rich” spectrum or those who have access to digital technology; leaving the “information poor” in an underprivileged position. This episode aims to tackle how the prevailing digital divide in the developing countries in the ASEAN hamper the supposed benefits of AI in development on individual, national, and international level. It also wishes to discuss and enumerate issues on AI accessibility and maximization in the region.
