Russia: Repatriation сeremony of remains of Napoleon’s General Gudin held in Moscow

A solemn ceremony of repatriation from Russia to France of the remains of General Charles-Etienne Gudin took place in Moscow’s Vnukovo-3 on Tuesday.
At the airport, the funeral cortege was met with all honours by reenactors in army uniforms from the War of 1812.
The coffin, covered with the French flag, was brought on a gun carriage.
According to Elizaveta Peskova, vice-president of the Foundation for the development of Franco-Russian historical Initiatives, the process of organising the transfer of the remains to the French side turned out to be a difficult task.
Elizaveta Peskova believes that the event is of value in several spheres at once because it “has both a diplomatic, political, cultural and historical character.“
“This is a historical event that will probably end up on the pages of history books,“ the deputy head of the foundation said.
