With his parents gone, the teenager retrieved a handgun and fired five or six shots at the man, ultimately causing his demise. The authorities received three prior calls in the neighborhood about an individual attempting to gain entry into homes while soliciting money. A witness, Araceli Herrera, observed the entire sequence of events, including the boy opening the door and firing the shots, leading to the alleged robber’s collapse. The 14-year-old’s mother returned home shortly after the incident, and the boy handed her the handgun.
