Ekaterina Derzhavina plays Catoire, Scriabin, Prokofiev, Medtner, Stanchinsky - live 2011

Among the most wonderful pianists playing today, Ekaterina Derzhavina gave this recital, entitled ’Silver Age favourites’, on 1 September 2011 in Moscow. Derzhavina studied with Vladimir Tropp, among others, and in 1992 won first prize at the Bach competition in Germany. In my experience she has a wonderful way with the work of Bach and Nikolai Medtner, and in this recital we have the special opportunity to hear her play Alexei Stanchinsky, late Scriabin, and the rare and beautiful miniatures of Georgy Cato
