How to Add Detail to EVA Foam by Scoring & Heating

Use this technique to add patterns, mechanical details like rivets & metal plating lines, scales, and other embellishments! 1) Draw your pattern on your foam with a pen or other utensil. 2) Using a sharp tool like a utility knife, carefully trace your pattern. Go slowly on curved edges as the blade will tend to want to go straight. 3) Make sure the knife blade is only cutting down about 1/3 of the way through the foam. You want to score the foam, not cut all the way through. 4) Once your pattern is traced, use a heat gun and carefully heat up your traced lines. Remember to use thermo-resistant gloves when using heat tools! 5) The foam will retract around the cut lines, making your details pop! Not sure what thickness is perfect for your proj
