Grieg - “Troldtog“, Op. 54 No. 3 - Esther Chernetskaya-Geshelin

Esther Chernetskaya-Geshelin (after 1881 - 1922) Rec. 1909 (as Esther Chernetskaya) Found at Esther Chernetskaya-Geshelin (Эсфирь Александровна Чернецкая-Гешелин) was born in Odessa into a poor family of musicians. Her father was a violinist and her mother was a pianist. Esther Chernetskaya-Geshelin graduated from the Moscow Conservatory with Professor Safonov as her teacher. Subsequently, she taught at the Odessa Conservatory where Berta Reingbald was among her pupils. Besides teaching, Esther Chernetskaya-Geshelin was active as a concert pianist and toured a lot. She died in Berlin after contracting Spanish flu. Illustrations by John Albert Bauer
