In this tutorial I will be showing you my process for painting this bluebird in oils. This was a very fun and fairly easy subject to paint. If I were to paint this again however, I would definitely paint in my background first. Let all of it dry completely then transfer or free-hand the bird and branch after. This allows a place for your hand to rest as you paint in the smaller details without disturbing the wet paint on the background.
This is simply the process I have found over the years to be helpful in my own paintings to achieve realism. Below is a list of the supplies I used for this painting. Feel free to experiment with different colors to make this painting your own creation. I used a variety of small brushes, so please use your favorites as well.
