Iceland Volcano Eruption Update; End of the Eruption? Children Under 12 Banned at the Volcano

The new volcanic eruption which recently began in Iceland just outside of the nation’s capital may have finally ended. The Meradalir vents are no longer erupting any fresh magma, meaning the eruption may have finally ceased. However, molten lava flows may still be visible and hazardous volcanic gasses remain. While the eruption could reactivate, current short term ground deformation and harmonic tremor sensors do not support this. Also, children under the age of 12 were banned from the eruption site due to hazardous volcanic gasses.
