Silver Convention: Summernights [Full Album, Expanded Version] (1977)
Silver Convention’s 4th LP was released May 1977. After the group’s meteoric rise with the #1 hits Fly, Robin, Fly and Get Up And Boogie, the group’s third LP Madhouse did not sell as well and did not yield any hit singles. Silver Convention were selected to represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest of 1977 to which they submitted the Motown-esque song Telegram. Despite a flawless performance in London, they finished a somewhat disappointing 8th.
The album Summernights was released shortly after (it was titled Golden Girls in the US) but internal disagreements saw writers & producers Michael Kunze & Sylvester Levay fall out. Instead of releasing more material from the album, Kunze teamed up with Munich maestro Stefan Klinkhammer, recording the Beatles-medley The Boys From Liverpool, released in October ’77.
