Donald Trump posted a $175 million bond in his New York civil fraud case on Monday night, averting a move to seize his assets as he appeals the court ruling that threatens to cripple his real estate empire. Trump, 77, was found liable in February for lying about his wealth and the value of his properties by billions of dollars to deceive banks and insurers. He was ordered to pay the full $454 million, plus interest, that he owes — but gained a reprieve from an appeals court last month which gave him ten days to post the reduced $175 million. New York authorities had been poised to begin seizing Trump’s assets, potentially forcing a fire sale of his flagship properties if he failed to secure the bond.
