The Folk Singer ~ Eddy Arnold and The Needmore Creek Singers (1964)

At one time the term “country“ and folk“ were synonymous with each other. By the 60’s, however, the terms had completely different meanings with folk music drawing on the influences of the likes of Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers with country becoming closer to pop. It became vogue in the 60’s for country artists to do a “folk“ album. #RCAVictor and #EddyArnold did just that with this #1964 LP album, backed by The Needmore Creek Singers. This is track 11 from the album and was written by #MerleKilgore. #TommyRoe did an excellent version of this the year prior, and it’s a tossup as to which one I like better! I want to say again how much I appreciate those of you who take the time to listen to these great old classics. This is a labor of love for me, something I would have loved to have done in my younger years as a DJ. I’d really appreciate it if you’d consider supporting my work as well: Again, thank you for your kind words and comments-they mean a lot to me. God bless you!
