Definition of Autosome and Locus

An autosome is one of the numbered chromosomes, as opposed to the sex chromosomes. Humans have 22 pairs of autosomes and one pair of sex chromosomes (XX or XY). Autosomes are numbered roughly in relation to their sizes. A locus is a set of points, in geometry, which satisfies a given condition or situation for a shape or a figure. The plural of the locus is loci. The area of the loci is called the region. The word locus is derived from the word location. #autosome #HealthIndustry #chromosomes #Karyotype #humanKaryotype #whatIsAKaryotype #gametes #zygote #Haploid #Diploid #haploidVsDiploid #whatIsAChromosome #DNA #histones #nucleosomes #mitosis #howAKaryotypeIsMade #sexChromosomes #autosomes #genetics #biology #science #animation #tutorial #lesson #explanation #misconception #condensing #bodyCells #sexCells #geneRegulation #TEKS #purposeOfKaryotype #chromatid #Duplication #highSchoolBiology #NikolaysGeneticsLessons #locus
